Thunderstorm!

Checkout the storm over Manhattan! It came to Brooklyn just moments later.

Organic and chic!

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today and trying to take it easy but not knowing what to do with myself. Thank god this just arrived. Sarah Magid makes beautiful ornate cakes such as the Baby Bird Cake, but she also creates easy to make reformed junk food like goldies (her version of twinkies). The book has eased my headache and for now I'm enjoying the mouth watering photos of desserts and spying on Brooklyn. Checkout Sarah's site here.

Italia!

The days are creeping closer and closer until I leave for Italy! Don't these kids look cool?

Indie 90210

The Sunday New York Times discusses the emergence of a young Beverly Hill Indie Rocker population throwing cheap concerts in the backyards of high society Hollywood parents. I actually really like the article. It's cute and refreshing to see this generation diving head first into performing, creating and indulging in equally inspirational acts!

Fort Tilden!

I have reached saturation point just like the rest of NY but thank god for this one sunny day. Fort Tilden beach is a beautiful beach in the far rockaways which is reachable by car, bus and sometimes ferry. We learned the hard way by showing up at the ferry station blankets, cooler, picnic and all to be confronted with the sad truth of no ferries on the weekend!

Lyell!

One part I miss about living in Manhattan is the accessibility between neighborhoods. One minute you're pushing through people and smelly fish in Chinatown and the next you're walking down the quaint streets of Nolita and coming across boutiques like Lyell. It's glamorous, sheek and stylish...the perfect shop to splurge for an extravagant or not so extravagant event.

Heaven is a place...

Where nothing ever happens! David Byrne rocked Prospect Park last night playing new and old tunes and aging oh so well.
Last night was the perfect night to start off summer with 10,000 other people high on summer life. More shows to come!
June 26- Blonde Redhead
July 1- MGMT
August 12- Bonnie Rait and Taj Mahal.

Adirondacks!

It's taken me a while to post about Memorial Day but here are a few special photos from the weekend.

Brooklyn Star

The former partner of Momofuku just opened The Brooklyn Star. A small inconspicuous restaurant located on Havemeyer and North 7th. The fried green tomatoes taste like watery tasteless fried pickles, very sub par. The lettuce wedge is way too doused in buttermilk dressing for my liking. The Dr. Pepper short ribs were good except for that fact that I'm not a huge rib lover or Dr. Pepper liker. The best part of the meal were the buttermilk biscuits which were probably unnecessary to our order but the waitress pushed them upon us. I felt nauseous, disappointed and in content as the meal ended. I think as of right now the food needs to be kicked up a notch. (Notice not a single exclamation in the post, very rare for me).

Top That!

Ringo Have a Banana just posted the Top That rap from Teen Witch in regards to Chloe's outfit at the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Classic. I watched this movie repeatedly throughout my tween years in my large magnified pink glasses dying to freestyle like that!
