Aboubakar Fofana at Design Africa is keeping the traditional process of Indigo Vat dyeing in Mali alive by weaving his own organic cottons into scarves and home design. Fofana's work is available at Amaridian on Howard and Crosby street. I highly recommend checking it out, truly inspiring one of a kind pieces.
This week I was lucky enough to be included at CRAFT night with Liz from Hey We Made It!
We explored the world of pickling while eating peanut butter stuffed pretzels and comparing dirty feet. We pickled beets, cabbage, cucumber, asparagus and garlic and supposedly we have to wait for 2 weeks?! Rumor has it that some nights include homemade tattoos from Nurit!
This is Dennis's hostel on Deer Isle Maine. Dennis will cook you dinner with farm fresh food and take you clam digging in the wee hours of the morning.
Mark and Elisa live here...it's an island in Lake Winniepisake that can only be accessed by boat.
