Sometimes old people freak me out. Other times in a really good way.

Best Brunch I've had in ages. Not the friendliest waitress but worthy of getting the job done in a timely fashion. This restaurant is perfect for the adventurer who eats outside the box or someone who prefers a good old fashioned in the box French Toast. I enjoyed my first bereka, filled with feta and olives and I ended up mixing it with the Israeli salad, poached eggs, and tahini to make a delicious slop of sorts.

Vinegar Hill is paradise and I can't believe I've been living here for 3 years and hadn't been to this sacred spot. Vinegar Hill House is BYOB and insanely amazing. I typically would not think of pairing squash and blue cheese together but in this instance it's absolutely delicious and rolled up into a delectable little tart. For an entree I would recommend the chicken which comes in a delicious broth with shallots. Don't sell yourself short and not order dessert because the Guinness cake is out of this freakin world. After dinner Astrid took us on a the "poop lupe tour" because she does some occasional dog sitting in the area and wanted spread her knowledge and love of Vinegar Hill. We discovered abandoned cars, allies and the Admirals Mansion!
Go before it becomes too discovered!

This is hands down, the WORST customer service in NYC. One would think the restaurant was packed given the few times we saw our waiter but oh contrare, it was pretty barren for a restaurant week night. Nirmal, the waiter, even had the audacity to suggest a special "drink for the ladies" called a Pink Lady, which cost a smacking $225 bucks.

I'm virtually speechless about this meal which has NEVER happened in the history of Kiki Colore. It's the freshest, cheapest sushi in NYC and well worth the trek. After a bottle of warm Saki (the first Saki I've ever liked) and multiple rounds of sushi I was a happy camper relieved of "mmmmms" and "aaahhhhs." Our Geisha/mermaid waitress could not have been sweeter, nicer or prettier. Rumor has it that on rainy days the owner passes out free saki. It really doesn't get better than this.

Happy New Years to everybody! It has begun on the right foot despite my phone taking a bath. I'm really trying to stay in and eat like a recessionist so my customer service reviews will be fewer and far between.
For now, if you haven't been, go to Roebling Teahouse. The oysters on the half shell and mac n'cheese are mouthwatering scrumptious and nice eye candy all around.
